This guide was developed by cross referencing multiple techniques for extracting DMT from various websites for a variety of species which contain adaquate levels of DMT. I then studied the chemical processes and theory behind standard organic chemistry acid-base extractions and to ensure the proper techniques. This allowed for greater understanding especially for the purification and separation processes.
Reed Canary Grass Leaves (min. 1/2 lb)
Wheatgrass Juicer or Blender + Acid Solution
At least 4? Glass Jars + Seals
Base (Ammonia, Lye, Baking Soda)
Cotton Cheese Cloth? Non-Polar Solvent (Naphtha, Ether)
More Jars 6+?
Heptane (Rubber Cement Remover)
a. Necessary: Collect at least 1/2 lb of RCG leavesb.
b. Optional: Maximize Freeze, Thaw, Repeat. Freeze to Rupture Cellular Structure and potentially allow more efficient extraction of the alkaloids from the source material.
c. Necessary: Juice
d. Optional, Maximize Yield: Add acid to ph of 3-4. Heat and let sit. Necessary if not using juicer.
e. Possibly optional: Filter bulk material with cheesecloth.
f. Necessary: Add amount of NP solvent equal to 10% of the aqueous solution. Shake, let layers separate, repeat 1-2 times, Remove and discard NP layer. Repeat 1-2 times. This removes the fats and oils.
g1. Necessary: Add base to ph of 10-11. This converts the alkaloid salts into their water insoluble freebase forms.
